Crèche and Burn takes the primal fears associated with child rearing and turns them on their head. The paranoia, perfectionism, fanaticism and anxiety of the characters as they grapple with the demands of parenting and child care. Crèche and Burn is a heightened situation comedy with a huge heart. Here's what our audiences said about the show: "I knew it would be funny... but I didn't realise it would be THAT funny!" "Congratulations on the wonderful play. It was just perfect; right from the word go. I could not fault one single performer and each role was so different. At the conclusion we had tears in our eyes...we both could easily see it again. What a lovely theatre it is too and the stage and scenery were excellent. It was also good to note how appreciative the audience was. "What a great venue - comfy seats, nice and warm, bistro and bar nearby, courtesy bus - great night out!" SYNOPSIS Sarah is a newly trained childcare worker, it’s her first day on the job and she’s as keen as mustard. But all the children want to do is play war, take their clothes off, wee on each other, start fires and have food fights. Then there’s the parents, a motley crew of single mothers, career women, stay-at-home mums, the grandmother who thinks the childcare centre is the equivalent of a dog kennel and the biker mum who believes breastfeeding is an act of cannibalism. Things couldn’t be worse. Enter Robert, the weekend father. He’s a gentle guy who just wants to spend quality time with his daughter, but somehow ends up taking the childcare centre hostage. All this and it’s not even morning tea!
